Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has drawn the ire of some of his fanswith his latest project. In case you missed it, he announced last spring that he’d be executive producing “Finding Justice” on BET. The six-part docuseries deals with the injustices found in six cities.
The Rock shared a number of posts on social media to promote “Finding Justice” before its March 10th premiere. Apparently not everyone thought it was a good idea. Some of his fans have denounced him for his “newfound interest” in social justice while others completely denied the idea of social injustice in America.
- When Johnsonshared the first post, which highlighted police brutality and the murders of unarmed Black civilians, one commenter said, “Really surprised The Rock would post something like this. There is no true social injustice, only what the media shows the people. It’s 2019 not 1950s. Let’s move on.”
- Another person accused him of spreading hatred and evil by sharing the post. “I’ve been a huge fan of yours and have been for years since your wrestling days,” the person said. “But [you’re] fueling a fire with a post like this that’s helping divide this country into a race war. You might have just lost a fan.”
- Anyone who’s followed The Rock for a while knows that he’s been quite vocal about social issues throughout his career. He even said that would’ve either knelt or raised his fist along withColin Kaepernick. So far, he hasn’t responded to the “Finding Justice” hate.
