Stockton School Won't Stop High School Newspaper's Porn Worker Story

A California school district is not going to prohibit a high school newspaper from publishing a story about a student who works in the adult entertainment industry.

“The Bruin Voice” at Bear Creek High School in Stockton plans to publish the story of an 18-year-old student who makes money performing in legal, online adult entertainment. And while they’re not banning it, the Lodi Unified School District had sent a letter to the journalism adviser saying it wanted to review the story before publication. The adviser refused, citing freedom of speech.

Apparently, they worked out a compromise where an attorney reviewed the story for any potential legal concerns. The attorney said he found nothing of concern in the story. The lawyer wrote that the article is primarily about the hardships the student has faced, and not about what she does for money.
