'Avengers: Endgame' Rule Box Office w/ $2Billion, 'The Intruder' Takes 2nd

As expected, this isn’t the end of “Avengers: Endgame’s” box office reign. For its second weekend, the Marvel movie made another $145-million domestically – making it the second-biggest movie of all time with more than a $600-million domestic gross and $2-billion in worldwide earnings. It’s the fastest film to gross that much globally, which it achieved in just 11 days.

Newcomers did well this weekend, though none could step up to the likes of “Endgame.” The psychological thriller newbie “The Intruder,” written, directed and produced by Sacramento's own Deon Taylor, earned the second spot with $11-million, which is pretty solid considering its $8-million production budget. “Long Shot” is close behind in third with $10-million in earnings, and the star-studded animated movie “Uglydolls” is a little farther behind in fourth with $8-point-five-million.

“Captain Marvel” is getting a boost from “Endgame,” in the fifth spot for its ninth weekend. Domestically, the superhero movie starring Brie Larson has made $420-million, and its global total is more than one million now.

Here’s this weekend’s top ten movies:

  1. “Avengers: Endgame” – $145.8 million
  2. “The Intruder” – $11 million
  3. “Long Shot” – $10 million
  4. “Uglydolls” – $8.5 million
  5. “Captain Marvel” – $4.3 million
  6. “Breakthrough” – $3.5 million
  7. “The Curse Of La Llorona” – $3.5 million
  8. “Shazam!” – $2.5 million
  9. “Little” – $1.5 million
  10. “Dumbo” – $1.4 million
